Also I found the pace of Hunter to be pretty inconsistent. that stuff came off way more organic and natural to the flow of the narrative in Serpent's Walk. Also, expounding on political theory doesn't require awkward dialogue justification, it's a diary so if Earl Turner's thoughts turn in that direction the narrative can accommodate it seamlessly, whereas a lot of the political "conversations" in Hunter come off as forced and unnatural and like two people reading from a script instead of am organic conversation (especially when the National Alliance guy is first Jew Pilling Jaegar and most of the scenes with Ryan). in TD it's a diary so if the prose comes off a little stiff or the dialogue unnatural, that's ok because you're reading the diary of an engineer turned guerilla, not a novel written by a novelist. yes the blacks and jews were caricatures (not just the voices he read them in) but humanizing the enemy wasn't the point of the book, that's what Serpent's Walk was for (I'm still convinced he at least Co-authored it, it's got too many of his fingerprints on it.) Personally I felt Hunter was pretty weak. You thought Turner was his weakest book? why? I really liked it.
